What is it with some Christians and denial?

I mean some (not all) say the most outrageous things. ity isn't natural but there are some animals in nature that do have ual relationships. Then they go on to say we're not animals or say they do stuff that animals that have heteroual relationships do too. I heard some say that Christianity is a not religion but if you tell them the definition of a religion, they say it's the worldly definition and I need to repent. I've even heard some say that Catholics are not Christians but they believe in God and accept Jesus as their savior. Isn't that the definition of a Christian? I'm not saying all Christians do this, I'm just saying some.
